A piece with limited mobility can become a tactical target. You may be able to trap it completely.
Example of a Trapped Piece
The black’s bishop on b6 is nearly trapped. Additionally, even though Black’s knight on d5 is defended, it is still vulnerable to a threat from the lower-valued pawn on c2.
White to move:
1. c4! gaining a tempo against the black knight, Ne7 2. c5 trapping the bishop.
When you notice a nearly trapped piece, you can treat it as a potential tactical target.
